A note of Thanks

I remember many years ago when I was working at Haute Cabriere a historic day was witnessed by the world. I was fortunate enough to be part of the crowd that watched Mr. Mandela walk out of prison and with those steps give all South Africans hope for a better future.

This past weekend we at Freedom Hill celebrated Freedom day with a festival. Those of you who came to join us I thank you. I really enjoyed it. Together as a team we created a miracle out of nothing. An idea 6 months ago came to reality this past weekend and I am so proud of my staff and especially, Marguerite. She singlehandedly organized this festival and all its components. It was her drive that brought all the wine farms together to support us.

Personal thanks from me to all the wine farms on this road that came to support the weekend. Dieter your support of us is appreciated. Your wines are awesome. Thanks to Avondale who should be the first stop for anyone coming off the N1 on their way to Franschhoek. Rose at Topiary you are always a pleasure to work with. The Freedom Hill team, Chris and Retathanks for all your hard work the week leading up to the festival and for almost manning the tasting stand, ha-ha. To the girls at Val de Vie thank you and we will see you guys soon for a proper wine tasting.

Truly special thanks to Paul and Rose from Erica guest house. You truly are great friends, awesome people and excellent entertainers. Paul thanks for the use of your sound equipment, you are a lifesaver. As I have said before you are a god amongst mere mortals and we truly are not worthy……

Finally I would like to say that without the inspiration that is Mr. Mandela this country would not have such a bright future. We all would have been in some way worse off. The world would not have seen our beautiful country, and we would not have made so many fantastic friends. Cheers to you Mr. Mandela. You are the spirit of freedom.
